AmeriCorps VISTA Programs

Over the past fifteen years, NNCC has supported more than 45 AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers in a variety of projects and settings. NNCC VISTAs have created sustainable projects including a community-based health center serving low-income residents in Eastern North Philadelphia, a childhood lead poisoning prevention curriculum, improving academic achievement and skills in STEM for African-American youth in out-of-school time programs, expanding the proportion of housing authority residents that are able to access affordable health insurance and wellness services, and building the capacity of a statewide consortium to integrate financial and economic counseling with education about and enrollment in affordable health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
